The Saskatchewan-bred Fofonoff Plum is a hardy, yellow-fleshed freestone plum with a diameter of approximately 4 cm (1 1/2"). Its skin is overlaid with a mixture of both red and lime green. Notably sweet and juicy, it is an excellent choice for eating fresh off the tree. Selected by Wasal Fofonoff in 1973, the Fofonoff Plum matures in mid-August.
Growers Note: It is highly recommended that you purchase a Canada Plum or an American Plum to pollinate our Hybrid plums, as they are self-sterile. Plum trees like fertile, well-drained soil. They should be planted at least 3-4m (12-15 feet) apart, and fruit can be expected around 4 to 6 years of age.
