The Chestnut Applecrab is renowned for its optimal taste, among the many varieties of apple crabs. This yellow and red-skinned, white-fleshed a has crunchy flesh with a unique nutty flavour and averages around 5 cm (2") in size. Ripens in early September and stores up to one month in cold storage. Perfect for fresh eating and for use in cider-making and juicing. Favoured for processing into a tasty compote and applesauce. The Chestnut Applecrab was developed by the University of Minnesota.
